Recommended Computer Specs
Many software programs run only on Windows-based machines. However, you can install Windows on your Mac. ASU provides free or low-cost technical assistance through the ASU Technology Studio to install Windows through Bootcamp or Parallels onto your Mac. They can also assist with installing other PC software on your Mac.
If you do not wish to install Windows and the PC software on your Mac, you can use one of the many computers on campus at ASU’s public and library computing sites.

- A tablet or smartphone is a good companion to a laptop but is not a replacement for having a fully functional laptop.
- Modern Apple computers feature custom Apple processors which are not capable of running standard Windows versions. Because of this, there is a possibility that some software required for coursework will not be compatible with new Apple computers. We strongly recommend using a Windows computer to ensure all required software can be utilized.
